blogging from bed

so it should be special right?

aliens coming to get them

not only does K have a great view at the new place, but the building has their very own UFO come visit on Sunday mornings...you just can't beat that for a diverse resident activity at the retirement home...I have to remember and mention how impressed I am to the manager next time I'm over...

this is also my first attempt at a fake UFO picture....J is so proud and it was her idea....I'm disappointed it never occurred to me before...I'm nerdier than that

and in new cat news...he's starting to mingle

Moving the MIL...where to begin?

I'll skip Thursday's events because really they're too painful to relive...

but it set the stage for the next 3 days....

and not being technically gay married...she isn't even technically my MIL...

that's supposed to be one of the benefits of living in sin...however, it does not work that way

a word of advice to the newly coupled who think that's a valid excuse....

DO.NOT.MAKE.THAT.ASSUMPTION.....more importantly don't voice it...ever....

anyway - on to the move....

1 it starts
Friday morning...I hate mornings...my hat is devil red

bobby transfer
Transfer of the cat to our house prior to any moving could begin...he's okay, today he was very reclusive and I think overwhelmed...it was going around

kenny boxes
K2's boxes, J's brother, packed and ready to go to his place...he's 35, has Downs and will be living apart from K for the first time...he's' excited and will still be in the neighborhood...he has a tremendous amount of stuff...heavy stuff in large boxes...

kenny truck
U-Haul making it's first trip of the weekend, all this is K2's...because I was ready to move things along, I decided to unpack and take all of his shit overy by myself...he almost broke my arm trying to help....

dark afternoon
J got home from work and came over about 3 on Friday afternoon....that time right before she got there was a dark spell...I considered some things that aren't pretty...living in sin MILs shouldn't provoke those kinds of thoughts...

expert backing and packing
This is just me demonstrating my exceptional skills with the truck in an impossibly small and complicated driveway...J appreciated those talents a lot...

Kay's stuff partially loaded
about half of the first of TWO truckloads of K's shit...this was a 14' truck and she was moving into a 688 ft2 apartment...

aarrrggghhh
I think this speaks for itself....

truck
more of the stuff we toted...over and over again...

relaxing with lucy
finally a quiet moment before passing out in pain...

this is long enough already, but the best day was Saturday and unfortunately not many pictures exist because we had to unload those 2 trucks, using only a small, small elevator that wasn't close to where we could unpack, while 2 other families moved people in, in the rain, and I locked the keys in the truck, had a dispatcher with the locksmith ready to kill me, had U-Haul tell me with no room for doubt the truck had to be back at 4 and made lots of friends among the residents...

and speaking of the residents...there's much to discuss there...and will be well into the future I hope (next time I'll make sure the camera is out and ready)

Sunday morning we were going up to help unpack and met a woman on the porch who had what she kept referring to as a puppy...she'd found it on the sidewalk during her walk earlier...it appeared to be very premature...it didn't have any hair, had sort of weird head and a really long tail....it was a rat, a baby rat...

we don't know what she did with her puppy, but the security guard was concerned when we left and asked him where she went...

trust me these are only a few of the things that made the experience bizarre...

yep...make sure and read the fine print on those living in sin contracts...

moving the MIL

moving color

we actually move her on Saturday, but this is what I imagine it's going to be like...

I will have to backtrack with my drawings of the packing process, but right now it's still too fresh and disturbing...and we aren't quite done with that task...

so far I haven't been overly tempted to wrap that cane around her neck...it's only Tuesday though so there's still plenty of time

I'm ready for my certificate

courtesy of syd...I don't mind ....if the robe fits

my copy of Deathly Hallows came Saturday morning

harry potter

and I've been reading at it here and there for the last few days...actually my dorky ass has wandered the house with laptop, book, sketchpad and pencil case for the last day and a half...

I'm tough, I don't mind the teasing...at least I'm not putting up a picture of my wand...I will however mention the dog whore perfume that is new favorite thing for when Scout and Lucy come in from the yard

and because I'm not admitting enough geekiness...here's my result of the Harry Potter quiz I found at Denise's'

You scored as Severus Snape, Well you're a tricky one aren't you? Nobody quite has you figured out and you'd probably prefer it stayed that way. That said you are a formidable force by anyone's reckoning, but there is certainly more to you than a frosty exterior and a bitter temper.

Severus Snape

85%

Ginny Weasley

80%

Sirius Black

75%

Harry Potter

75%

Albus Dumbledore

60%

Remus Lupin

55%

Ron Weasley

45%

Hermione Granger

35%

Draco Malfoy

30%

Dreams

Under the Stairs

I'm not much of a dreamer...

up until recently...

and now all I have are weird, tangled up messes of dreams that I'm in no hurry to return to...yet I'm absolutely worn out and yawning all day long....

no monsters under the stairs in them btw, but they certainly seem to leave me with that feeling (and I've always liked this drawing - even more after playing with it in photoshop)...

so........

I'd like my blank head back please...

or at least to have dreams that involve something cool like robots or naked women or gourds

Doug Marlette

Doug Marlette - a great Southern editorial cartoonist - died today in Mississippi. A great cartoonist that had the ability to capture the nation's attention time and time again with his images.

Reading the editorial page will never be quite the same.

More of his work here.

Early Onset

I am now using 3 different computers on an almost daily basis and am having a really, really hard time remembering some basic things like whether I have a mouse or a touch pad....

I also can't remember what files are where and which machine has what software installed, much less what version...

trying to keep it all straight is probably a good mental exercise to prevent mad cow...

right?

*Updated* Gourd Update

front

The tattooed gourd is essentially finished and I'm pretty pleased with it and myself, LOL...I think I would have slept with it last night had J not made me put it up...I'm a little obsessive sometimes and won't even try to explain it past that...

My vision for this (if I actually have those in regards to something I'm working on) came together quickly once I got started...I wanted it to look like something a sailor in the South Pacific could have done to keep busy while island hopping at the turn of the century (not this past one either) or during WW2 after being exposed to tattoos and tattooed culture in different parts of the world...at any rate, I'm once again amazed at how great a canvas a gourd can be

I will stop this so not me post now...clicking on the top picture will link to a slideshow of more shots....
Luck

lots and lots done on the latest gourd lately.....I've found a ton of inspiration at Vintage Tattoo Flash ....all the wood burning is done, some painting started...I also managed to work two pin-ups on it...hehehehe....I love them

this is fascinating - I know

what the hell

I'm bored this weekend (because the MIL's fire and jewelry shopping only take up so much time)....I decided to experiment with new hair styles yesterday....this was the best of the afternoon...

luckily my hair is not long enough to revive the popular Celtic Warrior Princess look of 2001.....yet

jewelry is always appropriate

and we have an anniversary coming up, so I've been looking around online and found some ideas..."Lip Service" Bracelet by Jill Ackiron-Moses

Breast Ring by Jean Vuigner at Inasaja (lots of other noteworthy items there as well)

or...the Vagina Charm at Pure TNT

I know J will appreciate my research on this, just like she always does
