we spent some time with my MIL today...(early Mother's Day, late J's birthday combo celebration)......

there were gnomes (or Disney dwarves that we're calling gnomes).....

there was a trip to the thrift store that netted me a bunch of shorts that J hates AND a Slytherin t-shirt (for a quarter!!)....

now there's some of this and the evening continues to look up (not actually Bud Light, but beer)......

I suppose I have to consider this a semi-sports post, seeing as how it is about the damn Gamecocks

who have managed to get themselves ranked in the top 15, in spite of their schedule so far

but rather than dwelling on that, I'll get to the point...

we foolishly went to BiLo on Saturday to do our weekly grocery shopping...we live in an area very close to the University and heavily populated by college students, so this store makes an event of every hometown game....

they stack kegs on the sidewalk, barbeque ribs, grill burgers and hot dogs, sell t-shirts, hats and other fan shit AND offer free Gamecock face tattoos....all this just in the parking lot....there's more inside

anyway - we fought our way through the frat boys, get into the store and start gathering stuff up when I realize...

THERE'S GAMECOCK MUZAK PLAYING!!!!!

Fight song, Pep Song, Alma Mater, who knows what else....over and over and over....it was disturbing....it was the kind of thing that makes me sympathize with people who flip out in public spaces....it made me question what sort of freak sits around and puts University of SC songs on a continuous loop

mercifully this weekend is an away game and we should be able to shop in peace...

not only does K have a great view at the new place, but the building has their very own UFO come visit on Sunday mornings...you just can't beat that for a diverse resident activity at the retirement home...I have to remember and mention how impressed I am to the manager next time I'm over...

this is also my first attempt at a fake UFO picture....J is so proud and it was her idea....I'm disappointed it never occurred to me before...I'm nerdier than that

moving the MIL

we actually move her on Saturday, but this is what I imagine it's going to be like...

I will have to backtrack with my drawings of the packing process, but right now it's still too fresh and disturbing...and we aren't quite done with that task...

so far I haven't been overly tempted to wrap that cane around her neck...it's only Tuesday though so there's still plenty of time
