I have to get this out of my system

South Carolina Beaver...not a self portrait.
Persistent Beaver...gotta get the job done.
a giant stacked Beaver...the best kind?
I never want to meet a Beaver with chainsaw teeth or any teeth for that matter.
Plastic novelty Beaver, also available in life like silicone... recommended by Sue Johanson.
Blue Beaver...see above for remedy to this frustrating condition.
A Beaver story generator when you're feeling uninspired

Origami-ish Beaver...strikes me as stiff and dry...not great beaver qualities, IMO
Beaver foreplay? Vintage Beaver porn?
well, this one just speaks for itself.....
Music to soothe the savage Beaver?
For the Beaver on the go...
Beaver Butt, nuff said.

Last but not least, what I think should be adopted as the universal sign for lesbians.

SPF - Knobs

since I have taken so much kidding this week over the fact that I have pink in my wardrobe I would have totally used a picture of my knobs in a pink bra for today's SPF...however, I don't have a pink bra and J doesn't like it when I put those kinds of self portraits out there for the internets to see....

so we're left with the box of knobs I've carried around for 6 or 7 years...all very interesting as knobs go and the mermaids are some of my favorites...sometimes I pull my box of knobs out just to look at them and concoct wild plans about where I will actually use them one day...ultimately they wind up back in the box and pushed under my workbench...a terrible fate for such worthy knobs...I really have to do them justice at some point....

Kristine would love to see your knobs too...don't be shy

I'm throwing in this shot of Tori Wilson flashing her knobs in a pink bra as a bonus...
it is Friday after all

telling on myself

I'm secure enough with who I am to admit this....I've worn pink this week....2 days in a row.

I've told my friends at work (who have been way too amused with the color choices I've been making) that they better leave me alone or I will force them to go purse shopping with me.

It isn't Christmas

So why did I see so much family this weekend?...first with J's mother and brother on Friday night and then today with mine for the monthly birthday gathering...

Yesterday I had a plan and was not going to the birthday thing...I'd made my mind up, all proud of myself for being a grown-up and then...

I get a call from my dad...the second this week - I'd ignored the first and I had no intention of answering this one either, especially because he sounded really serious which is almost always a bad sign if he's calling me, but I listened anyway...

He was calling to ask me how to cook Boca Burgers... excuse me, WTF???...they NEVER make any effort to accomodate my diet (and I don't expect them to so it's never a suprise), but a call specifically about veggie burgers?? I was intrigued, I had to call back.

Calling back meant I was going (as in alone, b/c I swore I wouldn't bug J about going until June after begging her to go to something else that I was desperate for her to attend...all very melodramatic then, can't remember now what it was)...especially since they'd gone to the trouble of actually remembering the whole haven't eaten meat for 25 years thing.

So...I get there, they do not in fact have Boca Burgers but Amy's Organic Vegetable Patties...just to be specific...and that was the high point of the afternoon...

we got my 5 yo nephew something really similiar to what my uptight older stepsister and her husband, aka J's b/f, got him...that pissed me off...a lot

I picked out a card for my youngest brother that was identical to one purchased my other stepsister and her family...what are the chances?

and then I called my older (extremely uptight) stepsister by the wrong name, which she promptly corrected and gave me her usual look of disgust...so I hugged her and gave her lesbo cooties (that was fun, even if it meant violating the no touching rule)...

I escaped after a couple of hours and filled J in on all she'd missed after I got home and was on my second beer.

The May festivities will be here before long and I swear I'm NOT going to that one...

Really, I mean it.

Obsessions

Skeeter wants to know what my obsessions are...she thinks I'm obsessed with breasts and tattoos...

welllll............okay, I'll give her those...

but I've been thinking about this and I think I'm obsessive about a whole bunch of things...for example
  • not leaving the coffee pot on when I leave for work in the morning
  • using the phone after people
  • knowing where my sketch book is at all times
  • certain kinds of pens
  • Chex mix
  • being on time
  • giving Lucy her medicine on time
  • Main St.
  • not driving on the freeway
  • avoiding calls from my father
  • old stuff
  • clean socks
and these are just a few I'll admit to....thanks Skeet for giving me another obsession...

Just how obsessive I can actually be.

maybe I should try yoga or something?

Here's the truth

I have no interest in getting gay married...

none, zero, nada...

In general, the whole idea of marriage to me is unappealing...the ceremony, the process, the crowds - I get chills just thinking about it...

Getting married was never a childhood fantasy, I've never felt as though I've missed out on something by not doing it and I sure don't need the anxiety and stress that that sort of event would certainly bring...and btw my significant other feels exactly the same way...I also think being bound by the connotations and rituals associated with the institution of marriage itself takes the whole radical, subversive element out of our queerness...sort of a gay Kryptonite in my opinion...if we're gonna call it something let's not get stuck on the one word that drives the thumpers to the polls...

That said, we've been together longer than many straight married couples and would love to have our relationship legally recognized in order to take the hassle out of the things we have to do in order to protect ourselves that our het counterparts take for granted.

I've been reminded of that recently because of a situation involving our doctor's office and although I understand the legalities of the situation as it is, I resent having to go through the extra steps...

I just don't have the patience for it anymore...

I also don't have the patience for long pauses from the office staff when I refer to J as my partner...I'm convinced it's always just long enough for Help Me Jesus to run through their minds (little do they know he's busy on the PGA tour)...

So I'll be delivering a medical power of attorney for us both that will probably look something like this...(I'd actually like it to be a little gayer)

My clever homo stationary really wouldn't have the same effect if we were all legal and stuff, now would it?

And to be clear, I don't begrudge anyone - straight, gay or however you choose to identify - the right to recognize their relationship in whatever form makes them happy, but until there's some legal substance to the process, it's just not my thing....

However, J and I will be holding a Living in Sin Anniversary Party at our next big milestone in a couple of years....everyone's invited.

Pickin' Wednesday 2

Trio color

some of the first bluegrass I was exposed to was on The Beverly Hillbillies and The Andy Griffith Show...Flatt & Scruggs and The Darlins (who were and still are The Dillards in real life)...

one of my favorite episodes of The BH is the one where Earl and Lester come to win the hand of Granny and have a singing duel with Pearl, Pearl, Pearl ...this is also one of favorite songs to scream sing if given the chance...

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Don't give your love too Earl.
I have got a horse and mule, forty acres near a school.
We'll be happy as two bugs.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, come be my lovin' girl.
Don't you marry Lester Flatt, he slicks his hair with 'possum fat.
Change your name to Mrs. Earl Scruggs.

hard to find lyrics like that anywhere but bluegrass...

Just wanderin' with this one

azaleas

the azaleas are in full bloom and the color is amazing...lots of shades and varieties...the dogwoods are flowering too...almost makes the allergies and sinus issues worth it...almost
(not our house in the picture...in the neighborhood, just down the street and what a lot of the yards look like right now)

<span class=zesto" height="375" width="500">

the giant ice cream cone from Friday is outside a burger, chicken and soft serve ice cream place in our area...Zesto...we used to go there as kids after football games or church or whatever....we don't go there now, because burgers, chicken and soft serve ice cream are not my thing...I will say that the idea of liberating the giant ice cream cone is tempting...

<span class=womens zoos" height="375" width="500">

while looking in the yellow pages for a mysterious, master woodworker that a friend at work told me had vintage lumber and exotic hardwood scraps...I found this instead...no maturity points, but I don't care...women's zoos and mann tool are funny...unfortunately the mysterious master woodworker has not been located and I don't know if Bubba is going to actually tell me specifically where this guy is...

look at me

my favorite picture of the weekend, hand's down...Scout, the devil dog, being affectionate with J...it's only taken 2 1/2 years

and I almost forgot, my friend skeet has totally redone her site Skeet's Stuff and it looks great, if I do say so myself...I did the illustration for her header....go look and say hello...her plumeria make the best lei's on the island or so I hear
