When you're looking at me

I was suprised to hear earlier in the week that Loretta was going to be performing here in May...I was even more suprised that I was able to buy PRIMO tickets yesterday since the radio said they wouldn't be on sale until Friday....

I don't think I can stand the 2 month wait before this show...I may have to watch Coal Miner's Daughter a thousand times...at least....

Doo, where's my babies

Oscar Preparations Begin in Earnest

joan and melissa

Joan and Melissa Rivers warm up with some light hearted banter...

Melissa - No, mother I don't know Ellen...just because I played one on TV doesn't mean I know every lesbian in Hollywood...this is like the time you asked Oprah if she knew your housekeeper...she was right, you are an ignorant bitch

oscar schwag

Trucks start to arrive, carrying some of the schwag you never hear about that celebrities receive for taking part in the Academy Awards....

Note to Random & Odd

Kristine wanted to see our to-do lists this week...well...I'm a little challenged in that area - keeping me organized is more J's thing....and there was this unfortunate incident that I wrote a note about instead...

look at that smug look on his face...he thinks he's so clever

Queen of the Roller Derby

Queen of the Roller Derby

I'm on a Leon Russell kick...actually I've had roller derby in the back of my mind ever since Lelo posted about it a while back...

Maybe that would be a good reality show?

Celebrity Roller Derby Death Match 2007 - From the brink to the rink

I'd watch...hell yeah

I've been thinking about fantasy teams (which means living or dead) this afternoon and so far I'd pick (without actually knowing how many people make up a roller derby team)

Anna Nicole Smith (Captain)
Britney Spears
Pink
Natalie Maines
Tammy Faye Baker
Dolly Parton (Coach)

Farah Fawcett (Captain)
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Wynonna Judd
Heather Mills
Courtney Love
Paula Abdul (Coach)

Britney's prayer

this may be an online exclusive...and maybe the first breaking Britney Spears news ever from SC...but I swear it's real...or should be

britney's prayer

I think she had help with the spelling on some of the words.

edited to add - thanks for the nice comments...really made my day...color version here

when boys were boys...

I picked this up at a used book store yesterday...some hi lites below

lion annual 1958

giant walking machines and men in space suits...

shoot

my question here is why there's a reference to shooting the President in a 1958 UK Boy's publication?....wonder if Lee Harvey Oswald ever saw this?

white boy

not to be confused with Dirty White Boy by Foreigner...even though it's a great song...

cowboy <span class=

benevolent white man teaching the savage redskin his beautiful language...while the beginnings of Brokeback Mountain take shape way before those talking pictures made it famous...

all the boys

just what do the boys up the street do the other 6 days of the week?....

bush rangers

and Rod Hull thought he was special....the emu evidently has a long and noble history in show business....

so much amusement for so little

come see me in hell

cause that's where I'm going for bastardizing Hunter S. Thompson and Ralph Steadman's work and comparing Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern to Dr. Gonzo and Raoul...but it came to me in a vision earlier (still not ether inspired)....

the whole nasty mess currently going on is like a perverted version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...except I bet that bastard Howard didn't bring Anna Nicole grapefruits or play White Rabbit while she was taking a bath....nevermind the acid and weapons

at any rate, I can absolutely see Ralph Steadman illustrating the story and if Hunter S. Thompson weren't dead, he'd do a wicked narration....

I admit it, I cannot get enough nasty little details and trashy sound bits involving these people...it's disgusting and addictive and I'm powerless against the pull...which reminds me that Installment #2 of Who Isn't Anna Nicole's Baby's Daddy? is in the works...

A New Game

with all due respect to Anna Nicole Smith...whose untimely passing was quite a blow last week....I believe the most pressing issue at the moment is where little Dannilynn winds up and to what extent of a freak show her life will become as a result...obviously we need that paternity test to end the ongoing speculation.....so I think rather than talking about who might be the daddy, it would be easier to talk about who (probably) isn't....

this will be Installment #1 of Who isn't Anna Nicole's Baby's Daddy? honestly, it was a chore finding this many that I felt like were pretty safe bets...since the most recent claimant would have become the daddy posthumously, I didn't let a little detail like being dead or a cartoon or a puppet bar anyone from the list...

from left to right, starting at the top: Kermit the Frog, Pope John Paul II, Barry Manilow, LBJ, Space Ghost, Rosie, Captain Kangaroo, HR Pufnstuf, Sponge Bob Squarepants, Angel, Papa Smurf, Kojak, Mister Ed, Clay Aiken, Kathy Griffin...the last one is a two-fer....Tricky Dick and/or Elvis

Installment 2 coming soon

It's Official

I consciously made a dentists appointment for tomorrow morning at 7:00 am to have the rest of the work done on my tooth...what made me think that was a good idea? I know what time 7:00 am is and I know what this appointment involves...and still I did it (without ether, I might add)...

Research is so interesting

last night I was looking at some pictures of women in swimsuits doing some research on proportions of the body and remembered a few key things...

I've included some notes for easy reference...

now I just need some time with my sketchbook and a few hours to practice what I've learned...drawing

Nuns in Pink

I am really fascinated by nuns...they're so not Baptist (which is appealing) and then there's that Lesbian Nuns book from the 80's (which I got a big kick out of)...but I've discovered a new nun to admire...and really this seems to fit in with my whole Valentine's Day theme...

The Pink Nun

Her mission is to "Fight the Filth"
"Our culture presents sex as a necessary obsession and treats people as objects for consumption. I want to fight back by infiltrating culture with a better message...promoting the freedom of self control."
and to "Take Control (of thyself)"
"We are not objects-we are not meat! We are not fast food! We are not to be consumed."
that last one is questionable, but I'm not gonna argue with a nun

She also writes poetry...here's just one of my favorites

PURITY PRIDE
(Words of empowerment)
-----------
You do a little ditty
so you can pet my kitty
Don't need your touch to be my crutch
I got plenty of love from heaven above
If you don't wanna know the woman inside
Than step aside, cuz I've got purity pride!

what's that?....one more poem?...okay if you insist

"CLIT FIT"
Time does take it's toll
You're in a state where you can't wait
Your clit in a fit, Why don't you sit
And cool off before you cry
Let out a sigh... And KNOW you're in control.
-----------
Love's not clear
You've started to veer
You think you're queer
Don't flee to the first love you see
It's just lust you can't trust
It's never too late
To make the path straight

and like the Music That Will Make You Gay guy...she is seemingly for real...grab your chastity belts, it may get bumpy

Harold and Kumar??

I love this picture of the 2 dudes that stirred up Boston earlier in the week...okay they haven't done the best job at speaking up for themselves or their mooninite project or the benefits of random, public art installations...but don't his dreads look sharp?, he's gonna grow them out even longer I hear...

I've heard them called morons recently and I think that couldn't be further from the truth...they just got Aqua Teen Hunger Force more publicity than the original campaign could ever have hoped for...

I think the whole incident should set off a chain of similiar activities and installations using vintage toys....etch-a-sketches with mysterious images, slinkys twisted into secret code, tinker toys made into sinister objects and left all over the country...the options are endless

Make has a great post on how to build your own LED t-shirt if you want to make a more personal statement...but I think my boys could have just worn these t-shirts and gotten the same message across as they have so far...and it has blinky too

now that I think about it....I'm feeling kinda hungry
